Pierre
Marchand grew up in Montreal, and quickly developed
a reputation in the Canadian music scene as an excellent
musician and engineer. He played keyboards or bass on
albums by such artists as Daniel Lanois, the Neville
Brothers and Tragically Hip. He engineered records for
Daniel Lanois before moving on to produce artists
on his own.
Pierre
has produced tracks for Stevie Nicks, Rufus Wainwright,
The Devlins, and others, but he is best known for the
five albums he produced for Sarah McLachlan. In
addition
to
producing, engineering and mixing her 4x platinum
album, "Afterglow,"
he co-wrote "World On Fire" and "Perfect
Girl." He also co-wrote several key tracks
for her previous album, "Surfacing",
which has been certified 7x platinum, as well
as the title track
for her album, "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy",
which has been certified 3x platinum.
Pierre's
writing skills have also been utilized on several film
scores, and is considering getting involved with other
film projects. Pierre has been nominated for several
Junos including Best Producer and Best Recording Engineer.
In 1998, he won a Juno for Producer of the Year.
