Gavin was born in Glasgow, Scotland to two classically-trained professional musicians. He was immersed in music at home, and studied piano and voice at school. At age 18, he began training as an engineer at Townhouse Studios in London. Gavin worked with and learned from great producers including Steve Lillywhite and Hugh Padgham, and eventually got an opportunity to produce on his own.
The first album Gavin produced was General Publics "All the Rage" which
certified platinum in the U.S. He moved to the U.S.
and produced a string of successful records for Toad
The Wet Sprocket, as well as critically acclaimed
records for Goo Goo Dolls, The Church and Audiovent.
Gavin is now offering recording courses at a state-of-the-art
recording
facility
in Los Angeles.
He invites students who are serious about engineering and production to attend
his course.
